JAMMU, Aug 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jammu, working under the Administrative control of SKUAST- Jammu, conducted 19th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof J P Sharma, at KVK R S Pura, Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, Dean, FVSc & AH, SKUAST-Jammu, District Heads of Line Departments, Representative from NABARD, Lead Bank, CDPO, DFO (SF), Heads of Divisions of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of SKUAST-Jammu, Kisan Board Members, progressive farmers of Jammu district and others.
In his address, Prof J P Sharma stressed upon diversification, value addition of agriculture products and adoption of secondary agriculture. He also advised to focus on entrepreneurship development of rural youth of the district.
Prof Sharma suggested to study the economic impact of the various newly generated technologies viz, Hydrophonic system, Nano Urea etc for its mass adoption at farmers level. Vice Chancellor emphasised on the creation of nutritional gardens at various level with the intervention of SKUAST- J and KVKs at various levels.
Earlier, at the outset, Dr Punit Choudhary, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Jammu, presented power point presentation of KVK activities for the year 2021-22 and proposed action plan for the year 2022-23.
Dr S K Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, said that the valuable information and suggestions by the line departments will be helpful in designing a comprehensive action plan of KVK Jammu.
Dr M S Badwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J, assured that the faculty of Veterinary Sciences will render help for solving the problems of livestock farmers.
The officers of line departments suggested their requirements regarding extension needs in their disciplines. The Heads of Divisions of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of SKUAST-Jammu were present and provided their valuable inputs during the meetings. Kisan Board members namely S Tajinder Singh and Kulbushan Khajuria also put forth farmer’s perception and expectations from KVK Jammu.
Dr Ravneet Kour, Chief Scientist (Horticulture); Dr Sheetal Badyal, Sr Scientist (Home Science); Dr Prem Kumar, Scientist (Fisheries); Dr Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist (Plant Protection); Dr Amitesh Sharma, Scientist (PBG); Dr Raju Gupta, S Satbir Singh, Ashish Katoch, Sahil Talgotra were also present during the meeting.
On the occasion, the Custom Hiring Centre of farm machinery and food machinery at KVK Jammu was also inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor.
