NEW DELHI, July 9: Khadi and Village Industries Commission today said it has bagged a Rs 5.34 crore order from state-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
“The power major has placed an order for 23,000 sleeveless jackets for its employees. The order would fetch KVIC a revenue of Rs 5.34 crore,” KVIC said in a statement.
The jackets would be made out of ‘khadi katia silk fabric’ and would have cotton lining with designer buttons, it said.
This order will generate 20,000 extra man hours, KVIC chairman V K Saxena said.
“KVIC has for the first time got this type of order from the power major,” he said.
The order will be executed in two months time.
It further said that IIT-Mumbai has decided to use khadi products in their convocation ceremony and has placed an order for 3,500 ‘uttarias’. (PTI)
