Kupwara youth return from capacity building tour

Srinagar, Nov 18: Armed with adventurous anecdotes of a 14 day long tour organised by the Army, a group of 24 youths hailing from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district returned today.
A defence spokesman said the tour was aimed at facilitating capacity building of the youth of Kupwara by exposing them to employment and skill development avenues in the field of adventure, tourism and village tourism available in other parts of the country.
“This tour was conducted by Kupwara based Rashtriya Rifles and was flagged in today. The occasion was graced by the family and friends of the participants along with the army and civil administration personnel,” he said.
The youths visited Delhi, Jaipur and Rishikesh.
He said: “The tour gave an opportunity to the youth of Kupwara district to experience and learn the art of developing tourism in the valley.
At Jaipur, the youth were exposed to Small Scale Cottage industries and concept of Village Tourism including the expertise required to establish and run the project efficiently. They were also given first hand experience in the same.
At Rishikesh, the tour was made to undergo all the adventure sports i.e. Rafting, camping, bungee jumping, trekking etc and learn the techniques of conducting such events here in Kashmir including developing requisite liaison with the organisers for their help in identifying and establishing such facilities in Kupwara district.
At Delhi, the touring youth went sightseeing to the important places and saw the rich cultural heritage, religious diversity and economic progress of the capital.”
