JAMMU, Aug 1: Kuldeep Raj Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari Speaking people raised crucial issues of people of Rajouri and Poonch districts today.
While addressing the media persons, here Gupta stressed on the need to start the work on Shakargarh Power Project. He said that with the initiation of this major project, the electricity needs of both districts of Rajouri and Poonch will be taken care of.
Gupta said that the coal mine workers working continually under JKML Department Mogla and Metka for the last 20 years are still continuing as contractual workers and are on a life risk without having satisfactory honorarium .
He said that the contractual workers extract 450 kg coal per day per person on life risk worth Rs 3000 (Govt.rate) but are being paid only meager amount @300 per day per person which is the violation of the Minimum Wage Act across the country and especially in Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the administration must formulate a practical policy for this issue.
Gupta also urged LG of J&K Manoj Sinha to develop and mark Rajouri and Poonch districts into Tourism map.
He requested the Union Government to ensure ST status to Pahari community, which is very long pending genuine demand of the nationalist community.
