Srinagar, Dec 2: Despite the advertisement of posts for the Assistant Registrar and Assistant Controller of Examination put out for the recruitment way back in 2019, the authorities at Kashmir University have turned out to be lethargic in speeding up the overall process.
It is to be noted here that even after the passage of more than two years now, the KU has failed in completing the process of recruitment, and is yet to issue the shortlist for the mains exam out of the General Merit list that was issued after the entrance test which was also held after a much delay.
About the procedure, the candidates had to first appear in the entrance test and then, out of those, the shortlisted candidates are to appear in the mains exam and at the end, they will also have to face the interview, which will mark an end of the recruitment process.
What is more interesting here to note that for the mere 7 posts of Assistant Registrars/Assistant Controllers of Examinations that are to be filled at the Main Campus and various Satellite Campuses of the University, more than 2100 candidates have appeared in the entrance test that was after the passage of more than 9 months from the advertisement of the posts.
“They have made fun of the entire process; imagine more than two years have passed and the process is inching forward at snail’s pace, which not only raises questions over the intent of the authorities but also compels us to doubt the process; whatever it is, they should go about it swiftly,” one of the candidates said.
Several candidates told Excelsior that after the last date of the submission of the applications, November 25, 2019, they did not see the recruitment process going any further until August 2021 when the preliminary exam (entrance) was held.
After much ado, the General Merit List of the candidates who appeared in the Entrance Test was uploaded on the University website on 2-11-2021; however, as per the candidates, nothing has followed even since that and the entire recruitment process hangs in balance.
As per officials, there has been a delay in putting out the shortlist for mains due to various queries that were raised by the candidates falling in the General Merit List, which, as per officials, has now been resolved.
“The candidates had some grievances for which they had submitted representations. However, now the matter has been resolved and we will be putting out the shortlist for the mains exam in a day or two so that the overall process of recruitment is made swift,” Registrar KU, Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir told Excelsior.
