SRINAGAR, Feb 28 : Eleven days after he was fired at, Akash Kumar son of Rasmesh Kumar Mehra, owner of popular Krishna Dhaba succumbed to the bullet wounds at a hospital in Srinagar early today.
Akash, 25, a resident of Janipur Jammu, at present Dalgate area of Srinagar, died at the SMHS hospital at around 3:20 am.  He had a bullet wound in the right side of lower armpit and abdomen. He was on a ventilator for all these days and succumbed today.
He was fired at outside the Dhaba in Sonwar area of Srinagar earlier this month and was shifted to hospital in critical condition.

On February 19, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar while addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that three bike-borne newly recruited militants were arrested for carrying out the attack.
He said that the bike and pistol used in the attack by the trio have been seized. He said all three arrested were newly recruited militants and confessed to have carried out the attack.
The security in Srinagar was intensified after back to back attacks by militants targeting security forces and some outside shopkeepers.  Security forces are conducting surprise cordon and search operations in Srinagar city and its outskirts to prevent such attacks.
The IGP Kashmir today visited International Airport Srinagar and reviewed the comprehensive security grid of the airport.
He was accompanied by Director Airport, DIG CKR Srinagar, Regional Director BCAS, SSP Budgam and Commanding Officers of CRPF and CISF. He was briefed by the accompanying officers about the various security measures in place for the safety and security of the Airport.
While interacting with the officers, the IGP discussed the initiatives taken for the maintenance of security at the airport. He stressed on the officers to ensure better synergy and coordination among different security agencies deployed for the security of airport so as to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, strategies were also chalked out to ease out rush of passengers at drop gate and inside terminal and to facilitate their smooth movement. Moreover, it was also decided that a Police Post shall be established inside the Airport premises soon for the convenience of passengers.
In the meantime, security forces arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of militants in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening.
An official said that based upon the specific input about the movement of the militant associate at Laroo Jageer in Tral, the joint team of SOG Awantipora and CRPF launched searches, during which one OGW was arrested.
He identified the arrested militant associate as Muzamil Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat and from his possession a hand grenade was recovered.
He is working at Toll Plaza in Awantipora. A case has been registered and further investigation initiated.
