JAMMU, Jan 21: Taking serious exception to recent statement of senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh that former Governor Jagmohan was responsible for mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over-aged youth staged a demonstration in front of Press Club here today and torched his effigy.
The protestors raising slogans against the Congress leader alleged that this way Mr Singh was giving a clean chit to Pakistan which has waged a proxy war in Kashmir for over last 26 years.
The protestors also asked the Congress Party to clear their stand on the issue as after 26 years the Party has still opted to be blind to the realities just for vote bank politics.
Strongly condemning the statement, the protestors said the people like Mr Singh have always encouraged the anti India elements who have made nation to bleed in Kashmir. Instead of supporting the national cause such elements have always boosted the fundamentalists and indulged in Muslim appeasement just for vote bank politics despite the fact that Congress was punished worst in the last year’s Lok Sabha and Assembly elections by the people for such policies.
The protestors demanded that a Commission of Inquiry be instituted to probe into the cause of forced exodus of over 3.5 lakh Pandits from Kashmir so that the ugly mouths are closed once for all.
The protestors further said that Digvijay does not know ABC about the history of Kashmir and he should go through the news papers of 1989-90 in which the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and other militant outfits had given ultimatum to KPs warning them to leave Valley within 48 hours  or face consequences. Mr Singh should read these news papers to update his knowledge, the protestors added.
They said the Congress leader should know about the selective killings of this miniscule minority whose houses and other property were also razed to ground and the hapless people of the community were forced to lead an exiled life outside Valley.
They said instead of giving a healing touch to the hapless people, the Congress leaders were adding salt to injury.
The protest was led by Ravinder Kaul and others who addressed the demonstration included Comrade Mohan Lal, Kamal Raina, Maharaj Krishen, Sanjay Raina, Rohit Pandita, Anil Matoo, Sunil Bhat and Bharat Ji.
