KPs protest against Kejriwal’s remark

JAMMU, Mar 31: Hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits including men, women and youth registered a strong protest against the recent remarks of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, Arvind Kejriwal here at Gandhi Nagar today.
Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, a socio-cultural voluntary organisation in Jammu, which has been organizing free screening of The Kashmir Files Film led the protest and raised demands of recognition of genocide of Pandits in the Valley.
Kejriwal, while speaking in the Assembly had used insensitive remarks on The Kashmir Files that has hurt the sentiments of victim community.
Protestors raised slogans against the AAP leader and also in favour of community’s long standing demands. An effigy of Kejriwal was also burnt during the protest.
Kiran Wattal, convener, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, while denouncing the remarks of Kejriwal said that he should apologies KPs . He said that time has come for setting up of Commission of Inquiry on forced exodus and also enactment of Genocide Bill in Parliament. “I appeal to all Parliamentarians to support the bill,” he added.
Wattal also cautioned the people against the jugglery of Kejriwal and accused him of playing with sentiments of Kashmiri Pandits who are a patriotic community by core and who have made tremendous contribution to Indian aesthetics.
Wattal said the Kejriwal tried to denigrate a civilised community which has over 5000 year old rich cultural history just for his appeasement policy towards a particular section of people.
He sought apology from Delhi CM as well and warned that KPs will continue to protest and launch a nationwide movement against him.
A community socio-political activist from Jagti camp , Pintoo Ji, Pandita who is also general secretary of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, termed the protest as a mark of resistance by KPs to trivializing their plight. “I think, our issue is now a national issue thanks to the TKF and our aim is to rekindle our fight for justice that include rehabilitation of KPs by taking them into confidence.”
