JAMMU, Mar 10: Swami Hrydyanand Ji Maharaj of Hryday Deep Ashram, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu, today exhorted the Kashmiri Pandits to stay united and hope that with the blessings of Lord Shiva the day is not far when the exiled community will celebrate Shivratri with fervour and cultural sanctity in Kashmir.
Speaking at a function organized by Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra, Anand Nagar, Bohri in connection with the Shivratri, Swami Ji said Kashmiri Pandits belong to a great cultural legacy of India. Described Shivratri as the festival of self- realization and maintaining balance in life, he said that Shivratri is the festival of many layers. He further said that for a person who realizes himself that very day is Shivratri.
Noted scholar of Kashmiri Karam Kand, Tantra, Jyotish and founding member of Satisar Foundation, Kamlesh Tufchi gave a wonderful and detailed presentation of the various aspects of Shivratri. Quoting the Shivmahima Strotra, he said that the greatness of Shiva is so vast that even Brahma and Vishnu expressed their inability to fathom the greatness of Shiva.
Kamlesh Tufchi shared historical and traditional aspects of Shivratri Pooja and said that it is a festival of 21 days in which everyday some special Pooja is offered to a particular deity. Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karvani who presided over the function expressed the hope that the Kendra will in future also hold such functions so that the young generation in particular gets acquainted with the great cultural legacy of our country.
The chairperson of the Kendra Prof M K Bharat presented the vote of thanks and also listed the various multi-faceted activities of the Kendra. On the historic occasion of the celebration of 5100 years of Sapth-Rishi Samvat, a calendar dedicated to seven (Sapth) Rishis was also released by the dignitaries.
In a door to door campaign about 5000 such calendars have been distributed by the Kendra.
Famous singer and artist Shanti Lal Sidh presented Bhajans. The star attraction of the function was Vanshika Kaw who while playing the harmonium sang famous Bhajans of Krishan-Joo Razdan. The proceedings were conducted by Radhey Sham.
