KPs allege delaying tactics on resettlement of community

JAMMU, Mar 3: A meeting of cross section of KP community was convened at the KP Sabha under the chairmanship of its president, K K Khosa today to discuss the prevailing situation in JK UT and impact of the pending issues of the community which have been hanging free for the few decades.
The heads of many KP organisations along with some prominent members attended the meeting and gave their suggestions on how to move forwards to ensure that the interests of community are served. The members expressed dismay over delaying tactics adopted on the resettlement of the community and said it will prove dangerous. The meeting said in order to safeguard the identity of the community there is no alterative except settling the displaced Pandit community in Kashmir Valley.
In this regard it demanded constitution of a Committee of the KPs to engage them in order to arrive at a viable and mutually acceptable way forward for the return and rehabilitation of the community. It demanded that enactment of Temples and Shrine Bill is the need of the hour to act as a major Confidence Building Measure (CBM). It stressed the accommodation for PM package employees be constructed on war footing basis to mitigate their sufferings. It expressed strong resentment over the statements issued on behalf of the community by certain individuals which prove detrimental to community interests.
It was also resolved that the individuals appearing on the TV channels have no mandate to speak on behalf of community as their statements some times create misunderstanding and stressed on the need to revisit the various proposals submitted to the Government by different organizations during the last two decades in which different models of return have been proposed. The meeting stressed that the security of UT should remain with Central Government, demanded representation for KPs in Central services and filling up of remaining posts in PM package besides providing jobs to 10,000 KP youth and resolved that KP Sabha and ASKPC will frame a committee for better coordination with Government and stressed on enhancement of cash relief.
R K Wangnoo, Kuldeep Khoda former DGP, B L Saraf former Session Judge, Chand Ji Bhat, Sanjay Pandita, R L Pandita, Sundri Lal Koul, Ashok Dhar, Upinder Handoo, R N Raina, Anil Bhan, Vikram Koul, Desh Rattan, J L Raina, V K Raina and Ashok Braroo besides Executive body of KP Sabha attended the meeting.
