KPC seeks Govt’s intervention in restoring migrants land

JAMMU, Oct 2: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC )today urged the Government to ensure the protection of  migrants left over land and property in the Kashmir Valley.
The KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri has made an appeal to Revenue Minister and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to take immediate steps in this regard while referring to grabbing of Pandits land in various parts of Valley either by the Government agencies for construction purposes or land mafia.
Kashmiri said it is unfortunate that on the one hand the Government was claiming the return and rehabilitation of Pandits to Valley and on the other hand the left over property especially the land is being grabbed by some Government agencies as well as mafia groups.
He said in such a recent incident a nullah is being constructed through the  six kanals of land belonging to Roshan Lal,  Kanya Lal and others in village Newa, district Pulwama of South Kashmir has been by Rural Development Department through MNREGA.
He said the existing nullah has been encroached by local people during the turmoil by constructing the houses and other complexes over it and after the last years floods when there was no alternative to flood and rain waters the Government has started construction of nullah through the left over of land of displaced Pandits.
He said besides another piece of land belonging to the same families has been encroached by a local land mafia with administration sleeping over the issue. He said the DC Pulwama is the custodian of the land as per Migrant Property Act and he should take the cognizance of the same.
He warned agitation in case the Government fails to restore the migrants encroached land to them in different parts of Valley.
