JAMMU, Aug 18: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while expressing concern over the invitation of Pak High Commissioner, Abdul Basit to Kashmiri separatists for talks has welcomed the Union Government decision to cancel the secretary level talks with Pakistan in protest.
In a statement issued here today KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri said the NDA Government led by Narendra Modi has taken a right decision as Pakistan does not deserve any good treatment in view of its total involvement in proxy war in Kashmir for last 25 years.
Kashmiri said that Modi Government decision has sent a strong message that India will deal firmly with the terrorists and separatists as well as Pakistan which is brain behind the militancy.
Accusing Pakistan of ceasefire violation he said the neighboring country be taught a lesson once for all for its misadventures against India.
KPC leader also termed the statement of Yoga Guru Ram Dev on Shrines Bill very unfortunate and said that it has hurt the sentiments of Kashmiri Pandits across the globe.
Meanwhile, Joint Forum of KP Organisations in a statement has also welcomed the Union Government decision to cancel secretary level talks with Pakistan. Joint Forum leaders H N Jattu, president AIKPC, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo president PK, Virender Raina its spokesperson and D N Kissu president ADKUF said that it is a right decision as Pakistan does not understand the language of peace and friendship.
The statement of Yoga Guru has also evoked a strong reaction from All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) in its emergency meeting here today which was chaired by its president R K Raina.
Mr Raina said KPs having great regard for Yoga Guru had not expected this statement from him. He said Hindus from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari are one and united and no controversy should be created on Shrine Bill. Instead of making contradictory statements the issue can be sorted out amicably by the stakeholders, he added.
He said the Pandits became main target of terrorist attack in Valley and continued discrimination and onslaught on the community led to their genocide and ethnic cleansing with the result the land and other property including the religious places were grabbed by anti social elements and mafia groups.
B B Gosani, S K Bhat, Veena Gurtoo and other members of the ASKPC said that over 600 temples and shrines in Kashmir are in the State of neglect and need immediate attention to save these monuments and religious symbols.
