NEW DELHI, Apr 18: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has strongly criticized the State Government for its failure to fulfill the constitutional obligations towards the minority Pandits by delaying the passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrine and Temple Bill and sending it to Select Committee after keeping it pending for four years in the Assembly.
Addressing a meeting of KPC activists here at Dwarika today its president Kundan Kashmiri said it was a deliberate attempt of the Government which indicated that coalition is not sincere in protection of KPs Temples and Shrines which are in a bad condition and have suffered immense damage during 23 year long turmoil.
Kashmiri demanded that the Bill be passed at the earliest and without further delay. He also demanded that all members of the Board should form the community and they should be elected through secret ballot. Moreover, there should be no interference in the Board functioning from other communities and all Shrines of Valley be included in the Bill.
He said delay in the passage of the Bill will prove counter productive for NC-Congress and nation-wide agitation by the community can’t be ruled out.
He said the issue was also discussed with Governor of the State by a delegation of KPC recently.
He demanded issuance of cashless medical cards for displaced Kashmiri Pandits, bifurcation of migrant ration cards and inclusion of newly born babies, etc, implementation of PM package in letter and spirit, punishment to those responsible for killing of minority Pandits in Valley, adjustment of female employees posted in Kashmir valley in safer zones of Jammu and other parts.
