KPC, AMCCC ask Govt to ensure proper arrangements for pilgrims

JAMMU, June 9: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) president Kundan Kashmiri today demanded proper security for the pilgrims of Mata Kheer Bhawani shrines in Valley especially at Logri Pora Pahalgam in Anantnag district where a theft incident and ransacking of the temple took place recently.
Mr Kashmiri said that the pilgrims visiting this holy place to participate in the annual festival be ensured proper security in view of the recent incident. Besides the culprits responsible for theft in the near by Shiv temple and its ransacking be arrested immediately.
He also appealed the authorities to make proper boarding lodging, electricity, drinking water and medicare arrangement for the pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.
He demanded that the arrangements be made for the pilgrims visiting the Shadipora to participate in historic Dashaar which takes place at the confluence of Vitasta (Jehlum) and Sindu (Indus) at Shadipora after a gap of 75 years on June 14.
He said in view of large number of pilgrims from Jammu and other parts of country visiting the holy place authorities should ensure proper arrangements for them including their security. The district administration should make arrangements of make shift toilets and bath rooms and provide tented accommodation to pilgrims visiting this holy place.
Meanwhile, AMCCC delegation led by Desh Rattan today called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal and appealed him that the buses carrying pilgrims to holy shrine of Kheer Bhawani Tulmulla tomorrow be allowed to carry the pilgrims from Tulmulla to Shadipora on June 13 so that they can participate in Maha Kumb festival there.
The delegation said that all the pilgrims visiting Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir desire to have a dip in holy waters at Shadipora and also perform religious rituals there.
