SRINAGAR, July 30: BJP general secretary, Ashok Koul, who has been in Kashmir for the past one week, visited many areas including Budgam, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Gurez where he met the common masses and listened to their grievances.
Earlier, Koul chaired a Core Group meeting of party and took stock of the party’s organizational and political activities. The BJP leader asked the Kashmir based leaders and activists to work as a team and reach out to common masses with the message of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He sought details about the constitution of booth level committees and discussed various initiatives taken by the party. Koul was apprised about the ongoing Maha Samparak Abhiyaan (Mass Contact Program in Kashmir) and the various training workshops, which were organized for resource persons. He was also apprised about the forthcoming municipal and local bodies elections and issues which touch the common man’s skin.
Meanwhile, to strengthen the party Ashok Koul and other members of the party’s Core Group formed the “Intellectual Strategy group” which would be headed by senior leader Moti Koul and party’s State spokesperson, Khalid Jehangir assisted by Molvi Tariq.
He also constituted the Election Committee and it was unanimously decided that Khalid Jehangir and Molvi Tariq would be its members and would look after the affairs and formulate strategy for upcoming municipal and local bodies elections in Kashmir. Khalid Jehangir was given additional charge of Maha Sampark Abhiyaan for district Ganderbal, Dr Darakshan Andrabi for district Srinagar, Dr Ali Mohammad Mir for Budgam, GM Mir for north Kashmir and MLC Sofi Yousuf for south Kashmir.
Another committee for training and organizing workshops for resource persons was also formulated with its new members as Khalid Jehangir, Altaf Thakur Media Incharge Kashmir, Dr Ali Mohmmad Mir (president Central Kashmir) and Arif Raja Protocol Incharge.
