Kohli inspects Pollution Checking Centres, seeks report

JAMMU, Apr 15: Minister of State for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli has instructed the officers of Transport Department to conduct inspection of all existing Pollution Checking Centres (PCCs) in Jammu and see whether these are functioning as per the prescribed norms. He also asked them to prepare a consolidated report in this regard.
These instructions were given by the Minister during inspection of various Pollution Checking Centres including Janta Motors PCC, Municipal Market, Durga PCC and PCC Narwal.
Accompanied by MLC Vibodh Gupta, Secretary Transport Baseer Ahmad Khan, Transport Commissioner, Dilshada Khan, Joint Transport Commissioner, G. A. Sofi, Regional Transport Officer, Jammu and other officers, the Minister took serious note of non-functioning of some Pollution Checking Centres and directed for strict adherence of rules, regulations and norms.
He directed the transport authorities to check these centres properly and ensure that the PCCs are functioning as per the norms. He asked them to cancel the authorization of all erring centres. Mr. Kohli stressed upon authorized PCCs to send detailed report of rejected vehicles to the Regional Transport Office on daily basis.
The Minister said the PDP-BJP Government is committed to give transparent and corruption free governance.
