JAMMU, May 1: Minister for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli today conducted surprise inspection of buses at SRTC bus stand and Railway Station to check their route permits.
Taking cognizance of unauthorized route diversions by the buses thus violating the rules and plying on routes other than the ones permitted for ,the Minister directed the concerned to take stern action against the concerned officers for failing to check the same.
He directed for an inquiry into the matter as to how the requisite permissions were renewed and the issue remained unnoticed since long.
The Minister directed for strict check to ensure that buses ply on specific allotted routes in accordance with the permits granted.
Kohli gave instructions for a thorough check of the route permits of the buses and stern action against the unholy nexus between the bus operators and any official of the department.
He said the Government would make every effort to bring transparency and accountability in the work culture so as to ease the sufferings of common man. He sought cooperation of the people to unearth any such practices being nurtured in the department and assured of stern action under law against the culprits.
