SRINAGAR, June 26: To augment intra-state connectivity, the Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli today flagged off State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus service from Srinagar to Poonch via Mughal Road.
The buses will depart from Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Srinagar and General Bus Stand, Poonch at 7.00 am daily and intermediary stops at Shopian, Peer Ki Gali, Bufliaz Surankote and vice versa.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that with the starting of the bus service a long pending demand of the trading community and general commuters including local tourists has been fulfilled. He said this service is aimed at improving intra-state connectivity by making available affordable transport facilities to the people.
The Minister said that Government is committed to provide cost effective and reasonable transport facility to all remote areas of the State so that the commuters easily avail of their benefits. He further said that efforts are being made to rationalize the fare of every kind of vehicle to avoid malpractices and monopoly.
Secretary, Transport Baseer Ahmad Khan, Managing Director, SRTC J. S. Tandon, General Manager Operations, General Manager Loads, Manager Tourist Services and other officers of Transport Department were present on the occasion.
