JAMMU, June 30: Former minister and senior BJP leader, Abdul Gani Kohli today demanded induction of a Scheduled Tribe (ST) member in the J&K Public Service Commission (PSC) and projected the burning issues of the nomads and daily rated workers (DRWs) of PHE/ Jal Shakti Department.
Talking to the media-persons here today, Kohli expressed strong resentment over non-inclusion of a member from ST community in the Public Service Commission by the J&K UT Administration. He alleged that six new members were inducted in the Commission but not even a single one was taken from Gujjar-Bakerwal community.
Kohli further pointed out that members of nomad community have been left to suffer by the administration. Their facilities are being withdrawn. He said about 1570 teachers in the mobile schools with nomads were deployed by the then Govt during 2006. But unfortunately, these teachers were set aside and new teachers from the respective local areas in Kashmir are being deployed to teach nomad children. He reffered to a recent order of an Education officer in Budgam dated June 26, 2020. He demanded that the services of these teachers who are engaged for six months on the meagre monthly wages of Rs 4000 be utilized. They should also be regularized.
The BJP leader further demanded that all the daily wagers of the PHE Department who are protesting for the last so many years and emanding release of their wages, be regularized by framing a policy. He said many of them are working for the last 15-20 years and denying them wages is unfair and unjustified. He demanded that their regularization process as started earlier be completed without any more delay.
