KMWA demands protection of cremation ground at Dharbagh

JAMMU, Dec 8: Kashmiri Migrants Welfare Association (KMWA) Indirapuram, NCR has demanded protection of the cremation ground belonging to the minority Hindu community at Dharbagh Harwan, Srinagar in Kashmir Valley.
In a statement issued here, today through the general secretary of the Association, P N Bhat it expressed deep concern that a bunch of anti social elements have again tried to occupy and usurp the cremation ground at Dharbagh which falls under migrant property and the Government is duty bound to protect it under Migrant Property Distress Sale Act and no one has right to grab this land or sell it or its any portion as the same is prohibited under the law.
The Association said that the concerned DM is competent under the law to take suo motto cognizance of the same as per the Act as usurping and grabbing of the land belonging to cremation ground is a serious and sensitive issue which can hurt the sentiments of the displaced Pandit community.
The Association further demanded that criminal proceedings should be initiated against the culprits trying to grab the land of the cremation ground for their involvement in the heinous crime to instill the confidence of exiled Pandits.
