JAMMU, Feb 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jammu organized Kissan Mela-cum-Ghosthi in the KVK premises at R.S.Pura, Jammu.
Prof. Pardeep K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme began with the inauguration of the exhibitions laid by the different departments and university. Thirteen departments, NGOs and private industries laid stalls and exhibitions for farmers who came from different blocks of Jammu district more than two hundred farmers attended the Kissan Mela-cum-Ghosthi.
Dr. K.S.Risam Director Extension SKUAST Jammu appraised that such type of events will be organised by the KVKs every year to showcase the technologies to the farmers.
In his presidential address, Dr Pardeep K. Sharma appreciated the efforts of the KVK Jammu in organizing this mega event. He assured the farmers that university will not leave any stone unturned for their betterment.
Three booklets were also released on the occasion that was compiled by the scientists of the KVK Jammu. Prominent progressive farmers of district Jammu were also felicitated on the occasion jointly by KVK Jammu and Sarveshwar Organic Foods Pvt Ltd. for their contribution in their respective fields.
Dr Sanjay Khar, Programme Coordinator/ Sr. Scientist KVK Jammu presented the vote of thanks while Dr. Puneet Choudhary Scientist Agroforestry KVK Jammu coordinated the programme. A Nukad Natak was also conducted by Sargum Musical Club with the financial assistance of NABARD Jammu.
On this occasion a Kissan Ghosthi coordinated by Dr. Rakesh Sharma Senior Scientist (Ag. Extension) was also organised wherein experts from the fields of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences provided on the spot solutions to the problems being faced by the farmers.
