JAMMU, Jan 10: Kisan Sabha held a one day convention today at village Rangoor Camp in Samba to celebrate its 41st foundation day.
Farmers from Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur districts participated in the convention and Natha Singh, a trade union leader and leader of Jamhoori Kisan Sabha Punjab were chief guests while Hari Chand Jalmeria, founder of Kisan Sabha was the guest of honour.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak, senior vice president of Kisan Sabha.
Speaking on the occasion Jalmeria talked about history of Kisan Sabha and its struggles in the past 41 years.
He said that Kisan Sabha has been fighting for the rights of farmers and raising issues concerning them from which included crop losses due to natural calamities, border firings, monkey menace etc.
Natha Singh threw light on the ongoing struggle of over 60 farmer organizations against “anti-farmers laws”.
The convention was also addressed by Uday Chand and Mohinder Singh Andotra, Vice Presidents; Th. Dewan Chand, General Secretary; Harbans Lal Saini, Kali Dass Sarpanch, Ravi Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Arvind Jalmeria and Jaidev Charak.
The convention passed resolutions to support of all India struggle of farmers against 3 Farm Laws and to ask the government to ensure the procurement of farmers’ produce at MSP rates at village level, to provide job reservations in agriculture related departments to the wards of farmers, to not allow the change of use of agricultural land for non agricultural purposes, to create volunteers force of border youth to assist BSF in border security, to shift registration of documents from revenue to judicial officers.
The Kisan Sabha Convention decided to send a Jatha to join farmers’ agitation on Delhi Border.
