‘Situation in Kashmir akin to 90s’

JAMMU, June 2: The killing of Bank Manager of EDB at Kulgam by terrorists which is second such killing in last two has been widely condemning with political parties and other organisation terming the situation in Kashmir totally alarming taking Kashmir back to 1990 situation.
Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has strongly condemned the killing of EDB Bank Manager, Vijay Kumar from Rajasthan in Kulgam area of Kashmir Valley by terrorists today and called for urgent and effective measures to save innocent lives in Kashmir.
The Congress party at the Shivar at Patnitop expressed deep shock and grief over the killing and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim.
In a strongly worded statement, party condemned the killing which in line of a series of such shocking incidents and termed the recent situation in Kashmir very grim. How long nation shall tolerate the targeted killings of innocents?.
The party accused the Union Government of its total failure to ensure the safety and security of common people in Kashmir , which is very unfortunate and called for urgent measures to check innocent killings in Kashmir, JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said.
Ex Deputy Chief Minister , Muzaffar Hussain Baig has strongly condemned selective, targeting and killing of minorities in Kashmir Valley. He has called it barbaric , inhuman and counterproductive.
In a handout issued here, today Baig said “I express my heartfelt condolence to the families who have lost their loved ones to the bullet of the barbarians. Those responsible for the killings are a curse to humanity”.
He said selective targeting of minorities will be counterproductive, will cripple economy of Kashmir Valley and scare away tourists. “Those behind these gruesome and inhumane acts are working at the behest of those who have always plotted and planned to destroy peace in Kashmir Valley”, he added.
Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) president and former Minister, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has also strongly condemned the brutal killing of a Bank Manager in Kulgam today.
In a statement issued here, Bukhari said “ I am shocked to hear about this sad news. Seeing innocent people falling prey to the bullets every now and then is heart wrenching. The targeted killing spree is becoming a routine here. Everybody must raise their voice against these heinous crimes,” he added.
Apni Party activists meanwhile held a protest here, today against the targeted killings in Kashmir. The protest was organised by State coordinator of the party Bodh Raj Bhagat.
President Ikkjutt Jammu and Panun Kashmir in a joint statement today said “We have once again witnessed the bone chilling 11th genocidal killing in the last nine months of one more Hindu employees Vijay Kumar working in EDB Branch Kulgam. Genocidal project of Islamists is on whereas Government of India continues to be in its ruthless denial. Hindus of Kashmir are caught up between two campaigns the campaign of genocide and policy of denial of genocide”, the statement said.
Ankur Sharma president Ikkjutt Jammu and Dr Ajay Chrungoo, chairman Panun Kashmir said the important question now is how long will the Government of India act now. Will it still procrastinate? Will it still fudge the issue of trivialise?
The statement said the two organisations unequivocally condemn the unabated Hindu killings in Kashmir so further reorganisation of Jammu Kashmir is inevitable. Jammu has to be separated as State and Kashmir divided into two to create a safe domain for victims of genocide namely Panun Kashmir for reversal of Hindu genocide and permanent rehabilitation of Hindus.
Condemning the gruesome and horrendous selective killing of the banker in Kulgam, senior National Conference (NC) leader and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra expressed concern over the Valley apparently reverting back to era of nineties.
The subsequent IED blast in Shopian later in the afternoon only testifies the gravity of the situation , raising doubts over tackling the security situation, Sadhotra further said.
CPI (M) leader, Mohamad Yousf Tarigami has termed the killing of a Bank Manager in Arreh area of Kulgam as barbaric and said that this is yet another addition to the long list of killings.
Now words are enough to condemn such barbaric acts, Such acts only suit the enemies of Kashmir, Tarigami added.
J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has also strongly condemned the killing of the Bank Manager of EDB, Branch, Kulgam by terrorists today. The Bar, which held its meeting today under the chairmanship of its president, M K Bhardwaj said the gruesome killing needs to be condemned by one and all. The meeting expressed anguish that despite repeated attacks on minorities in the Valley the Government has not learnt any lesson and completely failed to provide security to the Government employees and citizens.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and former Minster, Yashpal Kundal has strongly condemned the cowardice attack by terrorists on Government teacher Rajni Bala yesterday and Bank Manager today in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
He has appealed the Government to shift all the Government employees from Jammu region from Valley to safer areas outside Kashmir.
Dogra Front Shiv Sena led by its president, Ashok Gupta took out a procession against the killing of Hindu employees in Valley on the second day here, today.
Ashok Gupta said that such attacks are not tolerable and an attack like Balakote is the solution to the Pakistani menace. Gupta also expressed his deepest sympathies with the bereaved family.
Kashmiri Pandit United Front (KPUF) convener, Satish Kissu led a protest rally of KPs at Durga Nagar today to condemn the killing of Bank Manager in Kulgam today and a Hindu teacher in the same district yesterday. Kissu termed the killings sad and painful. Those who participated in the protest prayed for the peace of departed souls and expressed their deepest sympathy with the bereaved families.
KPUP spokesperson, Dilip Handoo said that all should join hands and wage a war against terrorism. He also questioned the silence maintained by civil society of Kashmir over the selective killings.
Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) while strongly condemning the targeted killings in Kashmir, said it is unfortunate that even after the abrogation of 370 the targeted killings of people continue in Kashmir Valley.
M S Katoch working president of the Forum said the Government seems to have failed to stop the killings of the people and there is also no mechanism in place nor serious efforts are being are made on administrative level to restore confidence of minority community employees working in Valley.
AAP leader, Sandeep Singh Chib has also strongly condemned the another targeted killing of Bank Manager from Rajasthan. Reacting over the unfortunate scenario in Kashmir where there is serious panic among the Government employees he termed it unfortunate to see innocent people falling prey to the bullets which is heart wrenching.
Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) strongly condemned the killing of innocent people in Kashmir. In a statement JMF, president Sujja Zaffar expressed his displeasure over the silence of NGOs, members of Civil Society and intellectuals.
He said the perpetrators of such crimes whose aim is to destroy the peace in the State and harm communal harmony culture should be identified.
Mission Statehood, chairman Sunil Dimple demanded that Kashmir be completely handed over to Army and police for flushing out terrorists. He, while expressing deep concern over the increasing selective killings of minorities in Kashmir and gunning down of Bank Manager today said the Government has failed to ensure safety and security of Hindu employees in Valley which is totally unfortunate.
National Awami United Party (NAUP) Jammu and Kashmir, UT State secretary, Manmohan Sudan has appealed the LG administration to ensure security of Jammu based and outside employees in Kashmir Valley who are working in banks and other departments at the earliest or on priority basis.
He also appealed the Union home Minister Amit Shah to issue directives to UT Government to transfer all Jammu and outside employees to save humanity on war footing basis. He also appealed the Union Home Minister not to cancel the Amarnath yatra.
Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) held a protest demonstration at Jagti township against the selective killings. Led by president of JTC and SKF, Shadi Lal Pandita he accused Central Government of its total failure in protecting the minorities in Kashmir.
Gaurav Sharma in charge Parbhari AAP Jammu province, Pardeep Mittal, co -incharge Election J&K and DDC member, Suchetgarh, Taranjeet Singh Tony have also strongly condemned the killing of Hindu bank employee and blamed the Government of its total failure in protecting the lives of minorities in Kashmir.
EDB Bank Retirees Association president, A K Raina has strongly condemned the killing of Bank Manager, of EDB Branch Arreh, Kulgam and demanded fool proof security to employees of the Bank.
Senior BJP leader , H L Bhat, Ashok Kangan and Moti Lal Pandita have strongly condemned the killing of EDB Manager in Kulgam and termed it a heinous crime by prophets of doom. They said that such acts will lead to nowhere but instead spread animosity among the different sections of the people which can have serious repercussions. The BJP leaders asked Civil Society in Kashmir to take the congisance of such targeted killings and put an end to them.
Janata Dal Secular (JDS) president, Mast Nath Yogi has also strongly condemned the killing of Hindu employees in Kashmir valley. He said the targeted killings have created fear psychosis among Hindu employees in Kashmir.
All India Bank Officers Confederation has also condemned the killing of EDB Manager at Kulgam and termed it most unfortunate. The Confederation demanded transfer of all Bank employees to Srinagar Centre branches for their safety and security.
