JAMMU, June 2: The DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today took serious note of the non-utilization of Rs 900 crores sanctioned for Jammu district under the Central Government’s prestigious scheme Jal Jeevan Mission.
He expressed disappointment over the callous attitude of officials of Jal Shakti Department for not using funds allocated for providing safe and adequate drinking water.
The DDC Chairman stated this while conducting a hectic tour of Jammu District along with Principal Secretary Jal Shakti Department, Ashok Kumar Parmar and other concerned officers to inspect various Lift Irrigation and Water Supply Schemes in the district.
During visit to village Batera Kool, the DDC Chairman inspected Lift Irrigation Scheme and took stock of the problems being faced by the farmers who are not getting irrigation water for their crops.
The farmers of the area apprised the DDC Chairman that there is season of sowing crops but it’s unfortunate that the water is not reaching upto the tail end due to which they are facing immense problems.
The DDC Chairman directed the officials conned to fix the problems of aforesaid lift irrigation and made all possible efforts in providing the water upto tail end so that the farmers of the area may not face any inconvenience while sowing their crops.
During visit to Panchayat Malpur, the people demanded repairs of channel so that water goes tail end. They also demanded that the concerned building of machinery should be renovated. The DDC Chairman gave necessary directions for fulfilling the demands of the people and complete the main channel at Malpur -2.
Later, the DDC Chairman also inspected Lift Irrigation Schemes Gura Pattan and Ranjan and directed the authorities concerned to fix the shortcomings so that the people as well as farmers of the areas would get adequate supply of water.
Later the DDC Chairman also inspected Water Supply Scheme Kot where in drilling work of new tube well under NAABRD Scheme is going on.
