SRINAGAR, Nov 2: Citara-Jadooz has launched a kids festival in South Kashmir, marking a major step towards reviving cinema-based edutainment in the region after a gap of nearly 30 years.
A statement said that the month-long festival aims to blend learning with fun, giving children an opportunity to enjoy films and activities in a safe and engaging environment.
It said the festival includes free popcorn and screenings of popular Hrithik Roshan movies, creating a lively atmosphere for young audiences.
For decades, children in South Kashmir had no access to dedicated cinema halls or similar platforms for entertainment and learning, leaving a major gap in their recreational exposure. Thanks to the efforts of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, cinema culture has returned to the Valley.
Citara-Jadooz has successfully revived theatres in Baramulla, Shopian, Pulwama, and Handwara, allowing children to experience cinema on the big screen once again.
The initiative underlines the importance of accessible entertainment that also nurtures creativity and knowledge among children.
Founder and Managing Director of Jadooz, Rahul Nehra, said it was a joy to bring cinema back to Kashmiri children.
He added that more month-long festivals, such as “Hits of Yesteryears” and a “Kashmiri Film Festival,” are being planned in the near future.
