PALMAR (KISHTWAR), May 3: Minister of State for I&C and Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today said that the Government is actively promoting setting up of self-employment ventures for absorption of skilled youth in the industrial sector.
The Minister said this while addressing a large gathering at Palmar.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Mohammad Saleem, SP Kishtwar, Kulbir Singh and a team of senior officers from Industries and Commerce Department accompanied the Minister.
Minister reiterated Goven-ment’s commitment to create job avenues for youth in the industrial sector. “Our youth should not only be after Government jobs but also explore possibilities of employment in industrial and tourism sector,” he said.
The Minister directed the officers of Handloom Department to adopt cluster approach for promoting making of Kishtwari blanket. “We need to popularize this great art of making blankets by adopting new techniques,” he said, adding that the Handloom Development Corporation will step in to market the product.
On the occasion, Kichloo announced setting up of 4 cutting and tailoring centres, sheep centre and ambulance for Razna in Palmar. “We will soon sanction a fire station, provide solar lights and cookers and smokeless chulas for the people of this remote area,” he said.
The Minister also gave Rs. 10,000 to Government School Palmar for undertaking a weekend students’ excursion.
Later, the people presented a charter of demands before the Minister which included construction of bridge, setting up of PHC & Veterinary Centres, helipad for greater accessibility, tourism infrastructure and Fisheries Pond in Palmar for benefit of general masses. They also raised the demand for separate Niabat to cater to a population of nearly 20,000 people.
