KHC, DWC highlight migrants’ issues

JAMMU, July 16: Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) has expressed concern over non disbursement of free ration supplied by Central Government to migrant relief holders living under BPL category.
In a joint statement issued here, today KHC president Advocate M L Thuso and convener P L Koul Badgami have sought immediate intervention of Lt Governor G C Murmu into the matter and demanded that the migrant relief holders be also provided the free ration upto month of November this year as announced by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
He said these migrants were earlier extended benefit of the ration but the same has been withdrawn from this month for unknown reasons which is totally unjustified and sort of discrimination.
Meanwhile, Displaced Welfare Committee (DWC) Jagti has expressed grave concern over scarcity of drinking water in the township and demanded that immediate steps be taken for restoring safe drinking water as people are suffering a lot on account of water scarcity which often is faced by the inmates in the Monsoons season every year.
The Committee, which held a meeting today also demanded that the migrants be included in Ayushman Bharat scheme to get the benefit under health insurance scheme for treatment as the condition of displaced people is deteriorating day by day.
The meeting however complimented the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner for constructing eight mini community halls in the township. The meeting was attended by Vijay Kaul, A K Sadhu, Roshan Lal, Rattan Lal, Ashwani, Bushan Lal and others.
