Jammu, Sept 13: Member of Parliament & J&K BJP Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, alongwith BJP Election Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta, Rajiv Jasrotia, Committee Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A) and other leaders, during his one day whirlwind visit to Jammu held meeting with the party activists regarding the relief operations and measures as to how to collect more and more relief material and donations from the general public for the flood affected population of the State.
On his arrival, Avinash Rai Khanna chaired this meeting in Rehari colony area of Jammu city and also flagged off a truck with 500 blankets which were donated by Sunil Mahajan, a businessman and also medicines being donated by R.C. Ganjoo in presence of State Secretaries Kavinder Gupta and Rajiv Jasrotia, National Co-Convenor Kashmir Cell Chander Mohan Sharma, Jammu West District General Secretaries Arvind Gupta and Surinder Choudhary, Distt. Press Secretary Er. Ashwani Khosla.
Later, at party headquarters, BJP Mahila Morcha State President Priya Sethi and her morcha office bearers handed over a huge quantity of food items to Avinash Rai Khanna for further transportation and distribution among the needy people.
Avinash Rai Khanna, Dr. Nirmal Singh alongwith a large number of party activists also visited some spots in Jammu district where relief material is being collected from the people.
The BJP MP also received two mini trucks containing relief items from the staff of Nagbani school.
While boosting the morale of the party activists for their efforts in collecting food items and other material, Avinash Rai Khanna said that the unprecedented rains and the flash floods have played havoc with the lives of the victims in the State and war footing work of rescue, relief and rehabilitation is needed to be undertaken. He said that while people across the country are with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in this hour of their grief, sorrow and suffering, the BJP at the national level alongwith Narendra Modi led Government at the Centre have displayed exemplary drive and inclination to render all the assistance to the victims and will not rest till each of the affected family is adequately rehabilitated.
State Election Campaign Committee Chairman Nirmal Singh, on this occasion of dispatching humanitarian aid to flood victims observed that BJP has a long history of social service and help to the needy at the time of calamities, natural or manmade, in times of war or peace.
