Kemmu inaugurates theatre workshop

JAMMU, Mar 24: One and a half month long theatre workshop to produce Tota Aur Aina in Hindi under the direction of Padam Shri Moti Lal Kemmu was inaugurated at Apna Vihar near here today.
Total 25 artists including those who have migrated from Valley were also present in the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kemmu emphasized the need to produce plays by Kashmiri Pandit actors as the community has immensely contributed towards the theatre during the last two centuries in the State by creating drama societies, producing plays in Kashmiri and Urdu and the present generation should not give up this tradition.
He said the play Tota Aur Aina was written in 1984 in Kashmiri and was awarded by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in 1985. It translation in Hindi by Dr G S Raina was awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource, Government of India. The play is a sacrificial one exposing those who have lust for power. It is based on famous folk story of India concerning Raja Vikramaditya and his servant.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with Asav, Lasav and Gindav Cultural Society regd and will be presented on stage by the middle of May this year at Jammu.
