Keeping vote bank in mind governments implemented reservations: GCP Front

JAMMU, Nov 8: General Category People’s Front here today organised a meeting under the chairmanship of Yash Paul Sharma, Front president.
Speakers in the meeting said that successive government festered caste based discrimination based on vote bank politics while implementing reservation in J&K.
They appreciated the statement of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah that J&K Government intends to bring reservation level in accordance with Supreme Court ruling which says that there should not be more than 50 per cent reservation.
Yash Paul Sharma said that right to equality under the Article 16(1) is the Fundamental Right of every citizen of India and clause (4) of the Article is discriminatory. The Front hoped that ‘economic justice’ would be done while implementing reservations after holding the supremacy of the Supreme Court of India.
The members said that recommendations made by the Reservation Review Cabinet Sub-Committee should be implemented.
The Front also demanded hike in the medical allowance of employees and pensioners in line with the increase already granted by the Ladakh administration.
