Keep vigil on MCC violation: DC to Magistrates

Kathua, Nov 1: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua convened a meeting of 85 Sector Magistrates and Zonal Magistrates deployed as Special Executive Magistrates in Assembly segments of Kathua, Hiranagar, Billawar, Bani and Basohli for Assembly elections.
Meeting was attended by Returning Officers Prasanna Ramaswami, S P Rukwal and Gurmukh Singh, ADDC N S Bali, District Information Officer Indu Jamwal apart from Sector and Zonal Magistrates.
The DC impressed upon the Special Executive Magistrates for keeping vigil on the violation of Model Code of Conduct, coordinate with Flying Squads, Surveillance Teams, BLOs, ensuring 100% electoral literacy in the polling booth area and review the daily working of polling booth area teams (PBATs) in the sectors and zones.
He imparted detailed training on immediate responsibility of the sector/zonal officers for ensuring Basic Minimum Facilities at polling stations, preparation of route maps for polling parties, reaching out to vulnerable areas and hamlets, EVM familiarization in polling station catchments areas, supervising special enrollment camps, coordinating with Tehsildars, BDOs and CDPOs for arrangements of logistics for polling parties; and poll day duties like mock poll, reporting the proceedings of poll on hourly basis, frequent visit to polling stations, immediate response for EVM replacement, ensuring presence of agents of polling parties and conduct of free and fair elections in the district.
Dr Shahid called upon officers to exhibit exemplary leadership and lead all the election related teams in their areas for smooth conduct of election. He informed that senior officers like Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, District Officers of Agriculture, Health, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Forests, Rural Development and Social Welfare have been appointed as Zonal and Sector Magistrates for efficient command and control system in preparation for and conduct of elections.
