KISHTWAR, Feb 17: Senior Congress leader and member civil society Kishtwar Shamsher Singh Bhandari has demanded provision of two ventilators in District Hospital Kishtwar for emergency purposes.
Addressing a meeting of the activists of civil society here today, he said that in the event of accidents in far flung areas of the district the people rush the victims to the District Hospital Kishtwar for treatment but they are rushed to Jammu due to lack of ventilators as life saving equipments. He said such patients often die in the way.
Mr Bhandari also demanded that an ambulance be also allotted to District Hospital Kishtwar which is fitted with ventilator and other life saving equipments so that the critical patients or accident victims can safely shifted to hospitals.
He also demanded posting of doctors and para medical staff in far-flung areas of Kishtwar and reviewing of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) as the ration given under the act per family can’t suffice to keep its body and soul together.
Bhandari demanded that per family especially in Kandi belt be given at least 35 to 40 kgs of ration at the rate of Rs 2 per kg.  He said people feel cheated on the name of the NFSA in the State as five kgs of ration given per soul can’t suffice and satisfy his hunger.
This is a cruel joke as at least one person needs 15 kgs of ration per month while five kgs will only suffice him for 10 days, he added.
