KATHUA, Mar 12: Kedia Gandyal people today protested against illegal mining in the area which is causing a grave threat and endangering the nearby localities. Participating in the protest district President, BJP  for Kathua, Prem Nath Dogra said with the intervention of Union Minister, Dr  Jitendra Singh mining was stopped for one and half month but with the conspiracy of Mining Department and land mafia it was again started.
He said nothing has been changed from last one and half month. He accused the mafia of breaking every norm and destroying the natural resources by installing crushers illegally in the area and creating problem for locals.
Dogra said the water level had gone very low in river Ravi. The Union Minister got sanctioned the bridge to Kedia Gandyal  which is near completion but it is also facing  threat of illegal mining and if the mining continues then the bridge will cave in some day. The protesters said that the licenses of crushes were not renewed from a long time but the mining is going on illegally as Revenue Department and Police is hand in glove with mafia.
Mohinder Pal a local of the area said that if the mining will not stop they will be forced to block National Highway because despite knocking the doors of administration many times they failed to take action in the matter and no one in the Government is paying a heed to stop the illegal mining for protecting the flora and fauna of the area.
