SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) concluded its tour to Chenab Valley with a meeting with traders of Doda district seeking their alliance in trade and commerce activities.
KEA, an amalgam of various trade bodies of Kashmir, met the business fraternity of Doda on last day and resolved to restore the lost business ties with Valley.
The business fraternity of Doda alleged that the State Government had been deliberately delaying the project of Doda-Kapran road which will shorten the distance between the two parts.
Notably, the road has missed many deadlines since work on it started about 30 years ago.
“The Dessa – Kapran road has faced years of neglect from the Government.The road would provide shortest link to Kashmir Valley from Jammu region,” the statement said.
The traders said that Dessa – Kapran tunnel would connect Chenab Valley to Kashmir for entire year.
In a one hour meeting between the traders, contractors and transporters and civil society of Doda, KEA assured that they would support the demand of Chenab Valley traders, and provide all the logistic and economical help required to revive the trade in Doda.
KEA also met with the Beopar Mandal of Banihal where traders demanded an additional boggy in the train to carry their goods from the Valley.
Khan said that it will be more viable for the traders of Banihal to transport the goods from Kashmir because of the less transport fare from Jammu.
KEA formed its committee in Kishtawar, Doda and Banihal for its commercial activities in the region.
The KEA members who were on the two day tour included chief spokesman Siraj Ahmad, Vice Chairman Iqbal Tramboo, Constituent Member Mohammad Sidiq Ronga, Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf, President KEA Handwara Unit Ajaz Ahmad Sofi, and KEA Chief Advisor Khurshid Naqib.
