Scores of members of the Kashmir Economic Alliance, today assembled at Press Enclave here and protested against the levying of toll tax at different places on Srinagar-Jammu-National Highway. Amid sloganeering, the protestors demanded renovation of the tax.
President, KEA, Mohammad Sidiq Ronga, said that until an entire stretch of 300-kilometers of the Highway is not built properly, no toll should be levied. “We want to convey it to the National Highway Authority of India that we reject these toll plazas. There is an agreement of Government with the NHAI that until the highway is not complete, no toll will be levied on any vehicle,” he said.
He said from Lower Munda- Ramban nearly 100 kilometers of road is still damaged. “Levying tax is an injustice to all the Kahsmir’s. We won’t tolerate it,” he said.
