KCCI pledges safeguarding interests of business community

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) today pledged to safeguard the interests of the business community at its 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) held here.
Presided over by President Javid Ahmad Tenga, the meeting saw participation from past presidents, executive committee members, and senior entrepreneurs, reflecting the Chamber’s diverse membership.
Secretary General Faiz Ahmad Bakshi presented the Annual Administrative Report, highlighting KCCI’s efforts over the past year to support trade, industry, handicrafts, tourism, MSMEs, and goods and services sectors across Jammu and Kashmir.
Key achievements included advocating for GST reductions on handicrafts and essential goods, promoting tourism, and fostering economic growth across the Valley.
The meeting approved the Administrative Report, Auditor’s Report, Income & Expenditure Statement, 2025-26 Budget, and ratification of auditors.
A resolution extending the current leadership’s tenure until elections are held was unanimously adopted.
The AGM also approved forming a committee to oversee the long-awaited construction of a permanent Chamber House at Rajbagh, aimed at strengthening KCCI’s institutional capacity.
Past Presidents Rauf Ahmad Punjabi and Nazir Ahmad Dar, along with senior members Syed Masood Ahmad Shah and Nazir Ahmad Wani, were felicitated for their contributions to the Chamber’s growth and legacy.
Addressing members, Tenga emphasized unity and renewed energy in serving the business community.
“Every concern raised today will be pursued with greater zeal. KCCI will continue to represent the business fraternity with dignity and determination,” he said, reiterating the Chamber’s commitment to advocacy, economic empowerment.
