KCCI expresses concern over killings, violence

Srinagar, Apr 12: Claiming “situations are being created on one or another pretext to disrupt peace” in Valley, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) today expressed concern over the repeated incidents of killings and violence in the region.
In a statement issued here, KCCI said in a specially convened meeting chaired by its president Mushtaq Ahmad Wani pondered over the eruption of volcanic like situation in the valley on the eve of by-elections to Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha constituencies and its devastating impact on the economic activity of the State.
“It has been observed that ever since 2014 floods, situations are being created on one pretext or the other to disrupt the peace particularly in the Valley which result in the death, maiming and blinding of a large number of people of all age groups,” the KCCI statement said.
The Chamber said “it is felt that uncalled for political statements and ill-timed decisions taken by the Government at the highest level and other constitutional bodies’ compound the already complex situation obtaining in the State.
“The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry considers it its bounden duty to warn the powers that be that the acts of omission and commission are continuously crippling the economic sectors of the Valley.
“We urge the Government to act in a manner that safety and security of human life is ensured besides taking measures to help bring peace and stability in the Valley thereby leading to normal socio-economic activity,” the KCCI added in the statement.
