JAMMU, Nov 23: Speaker J&K Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today undertook extensive tour of different localities of his constituency and inspected various developmental projects.
He visited Gadhi Garh, Bhour Camp, Digiana, Channi Himmat and Nai Basti along with SDM South, Sonu Pargal, CTO, JMC, Talat Mehmood, TO, JMC, Balbir Singh and officers of PWD(R&B), UEED and enforcement staff of JMC.
Gupta inspected the working of the field staff and the works being carried out by the PWD(R&B) and Municipal Corporation at these locations, he also visited the sites where works for removing encroachments and desilting of drains are going on.
During his tour, he directed the officers to these works completed at the earliest so the works for the construction of drains can be taken up on priority and the people don’t have to suffer in future.
The officers of PWD(R&B), JMC and UEED briefed the Speaker about the works in hand and also ensured the quality and their timely completion.
Gupta asked the officers of the JMC to work in tandem with the Auqaf Department and pursue the project for multi storey parking at Gole Market which will give a big sigh of relief to the people visiting Gole Market and Apsara road for shopping and other related works.
Stressing on the need of imbibing cleanliness as an ethic in our life, Kavinder Gupta said that the Mission launched by our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for proper sanitation facilities in our neighbourhood is a dream of every Indian and thus it becomes the collective responsibility of all of us to actively contribute in this mission and make it a big success.
The Speaker said that almost all the drains will be repaired and reconstructed again but all of us should take a pledge today, “That we will not spread litter in future and keep our surroundings clean like our home” in future.
Locals of the area welcomed the initiative taken by the Speaker of reconstructing the drains and assured him their full cooperation in removing any sought of encroachment making hindrance in the development work.
Later a delegation of youth called upon the Speaker and submitted a charter of demands to him which includes proper sports facilities in their area and generation of employment opportunity for the youth.
Assuring his full support to them, Kavinder Gupta said, he has already taken up the matter with Union Sports Minister for a new Stadium in Gandhi Nagar area and upgradation of existing sports facilities at par with the national level and a comprehensive sports policy is also being prepared by the State Government following his direction after the last Assembly Session.
