JAMMU, Sept 26: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta has ridiculed the statement of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, for stating that situation in Jammu and Kashmir is worse after the abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A.
Kavinder, while talking to different media groups here, today said that Azad is very senior politician from Jammu and was permitted by Supreme Court to visit his house in Srinagar with a clause of refraining from addressing the media. Instead of acting wisely, Azad continued on befooling the citizens of India by issuing such irresponsible statements. Congress being oldest national party should support the Government policies pertaining to the national integrity, security, foreign policy and anti India elements, but by issuing this type of statements Congress is directly supporting separatists and agenda of Pakistan, he added.
Kavinder said Pakistan airs the interviews and statements in their TV Channels given by the opposition party leaders. So acting as a true Indian, leaders like Azad should refrain from issuing statements which are misleading and not based on facts.
On the question of trade and other market scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, which Azad has quoted otherwise, Kavinder said that traders are doing good business despite some hindrances due to the non availability of Internet Services. But people for the larger national interests have managed to compromise with the circumstances, he added.
Meanwhile many delegations from different areas of Jammu met Kavinder at his residence. A delegation of Panchs from Akhnoor block met former Deputy Chief Minister and apprised him of the problems being faced by the inhabitants of the area. Delegation members apprised Gupta regarding the demands submitted to the Government representatives during the ‘Back to Village’ program and said the works submitted to the officials are the need of the hour and requested him to approach concerned for early execution.
They also brought to the notice of former Dy CM that the payments for the works executed under MGNREGA were pending since 2016-2017 and labour involved with the scheme is facing tough time due to financial crunch. On the MGNREGA payment issue, Gupta immediately called Farooq Khan, Advisor to Governor and discussed the issue. Advisor assured Gupta that the payments pending under head will be released in very short time across the State.
