JAMMU, May 30: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today stressed that proper guidance and counselling at the right time greatly help the students to understand their abilities and enabling them to choose an apt career and excel .
The Speaker said this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating a two-day long “Edunius XPO-2017” in which over 50 Universities and Colleges from across the country are providing counselling and on-spot admissions to the students for pursuing higher education.
The Speaker further said there is no dearth of talent in the State and the need is to guide and motivate youth in the right direction.
“There is a need to groom the children right from the beginning so that they can prove their mettle in this hard competitive world right after leaving the schools,” he said, adding that, the students should be informed about the vast array of fields and latest career options they can opt.
Stressing that the students need optimum guidance after passing Class XII, the Speaker appreciated the organizers for holding the counselling programme at this crucial juncture.
He also urged the students to take part in the career and guidance programmes being organized by the Government in various schools and colleges across the State.
In the counselling programme, the experts from across the country are providing career guidance to the students in various fields and emphasis is being given on exploring the hidden talent of the youth rather than the decisions taken as a result of peer pressure or any other influence.
Earlier, the Speaker started various development works at Channi Himmat and while interacting with the locals informed that developmental works worth 4 crore have been executed in the area to improve basic amenities.
