JAMMU, May 31 : To felicitate women achievers of the State, the Performers- Group of Art and Culture, organized a function, here today.
The great woman achievers award ceremony was held at Police auditorium.
Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while as Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi presided over the function and MLC Surinder Chowdhary was guest of honour.
The function started with lightening the traditional lamp and presentation of a religious cultural item on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Mr Gupta lauded the role of organization and wished that it would work to spread awareness to remote as well as rural areas for providing budding artists an opportunity.
Priya Sethi while addressing the gathering said that the performers group is doing well in the field of culture and more is needed to bring out hidden art from the aspiring candidates. She wished well to Urja Singh for her tireless efforts in the field of art and culture and assured every possible help for the sake of culture and art.
She said women have excelled in every field and need of the hour is to give encouragement to the girl child so that she can prove her talent.
MLC, Surinder Choudhary also addressed the gathering and called for supporting the cause of recognizing women achievers.
Life time achievement award was given away to Ms Shakuntla Kotwal. Those who were awarded include Prof Hemla Aggarwal in Education, Dr Osmani in Medicine, Anju Gupta in Sports, Reeta Yousuf in Radio, Susham Sharma in theatre and TV, Shakti Sharma in Police, Usha Kher Tikoo in Traffic Police, Manju Gupta an Entrepreneur, Kanchan Sharma in Journalism, Veenat Thakur in Fashion Design, Tina Mahajan a BDO, Seema Aggarwal a social worker, Kailash Mehra a Singer, Priya Sethi in Politics, Morinder Mehta House Wife, Kirti Goyal CA and Shaista Hakeem in Judiciary.
