Kavinder, others pay tributes to Pt Prem Nath Shastri

JAMMU, Aug 19: Rich tributes were paid to Pt. Prem Nath Shastri the doyen of Kashmiri culture and a great scholar of Shastras on his 17th Nirvan Diwas at a simple but impressive function organized by Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan today.
Speaker State Assembly Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. The speakers while paying rich tributes to Pt Prem Nath Shastri highlighted his contribution to Kashmiri Samaj. They termed him a great scholar of Shastras and a social reformer who believed in scientific way of practicing religion.
Those who paid tributes to Shastri Ji included Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram, Muthi, Dr R L Bhat, spokesperson Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust, Ramesh Hangloo president Pir Panchal, B L Bhat a well known social activist, Sundri Lal Kaul, social activist Kuldeep Riana president Samajik Vikas Sansthan and Comrade Mohan Lal.
The function was also attended by Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri and Jyotshi Vimarsh.
Earlier Pt Omkar Nath Shastri gave a background of the Sansthan and highlighted the contribution of Vijeshwar Panchang to the society.
Expressing concern over the plight of Kashmiri Pandits Shastri said that prevailing situation has also posed a challenge to the future of the Kashmiri Pandits who are aborigines of Valley having over 5000 year long history. He regretted that successive Governments failed to take effective steps in restoring the homeland to Pandits in Valley. He said that alone dharma is the power which can solve the all problems facing the displaced people in particular and nation in general. He stressed that all should follow the path of dharma as preached in Geeta by Lord Krishna.
Speaking on the occasion Kavinder Gupta said that BJP is fully aware of problems of Pandits and entire nation is with them. He allayed the fares of community on Temples Bill and said BJP as a party favours constitution of the Shrine Board and expressed the hope that soon some tangible will emerge.
He, while paying rich tributes to Shastri Ji said that dharma gurus have performed a remarkable role in binding society from time to time.
On the occasion Pushp Archana was also performed.
