JAMMU, Dec 6: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said that Central Government led by PM Narendra Modi has taken right step to provide justice to ‘persecuted’ PoJK refugees and Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) by reserving Assembly seats for them.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP leader maintained that the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill brought by the Government will ensure justice to those deprived of their rights for the last over seven decades.
Citing the reservation in Assembly, he said that this bounty for the displaced communities would provide a voice to the persecuted lot in the UT’s legislature.
Slamming the political leadership in the Valley, he warned them to abstain from spreading concocted stories and negative propaganda over the steps taken by the Government to deliver justice. He categorically asked the Kashmir-based political outfits not to mislead people on the basis of religion or ethnicities as by such mechanizations the society gets divided with fissures which are difficult to plug in. He said that the Modi Government’s ultimate aim is to provide voice to the voiceless in the Union Territory and the endeavour of reserving Assembly seats is a step in the same direction.
“The reservation of KP community women in the UT Assembly is also the part of this noble cause to empower women from the deprived section of the society as this community had faced miseries in the past over three decades by becoming refugees in their own country with the then Governments doing nothing to ensure justice and stop their persecution”, he said adding that it is the Modi Government, which is committed to deliver justice to each and every entity in J&K and the aforesaid measures are also the part of this endeavour.
