JAMMU, Oct 22: Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today chaired the meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar here and took stock of working of the Primary Health Centers functional in Gandhi Nagar Constituency. Kavinder took a detailed review of physical and financial achievements of the PHCs and was apprised of progress register in OPD facility in the centers. The meeting was informed about the requirements and demands for further upgradation and improvement in the Centers functioning.
Kavinder expressed satisfaction over the improvement in overall functioning of the Primary Health Centers. He said that the necessary steps should be taken to meet requirements of the public, adding that, the doctors and paramedics should work with a missionary zeal to provide best Medicare to the patients. Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Dr Sanjay Turki briefed the meeting about the steps underway to improve medicare in the Centers. It was further informed that five such PHCs are functional in Gandhi Nagar Constituency and one New Type PHC (NTPHC) is working in Bathindi. He also apprised about the funds availability for the necessary purchases per centre provided by the GoI under NHM is Rs one lakh annually.
Kavinder also stressed upon cleanliness in the hospital premises so that “Swach Bharat Abhiyaan” could be promoted and called for the participation of nominated members of the Samiti to spread awareness to the public of the areas where the Centers are working.
The meeting was attended by Medical Superintendent Gandhi Nagar Hospital Dr. ADS Manhas, Vinay Gupta, medical officers of the PHC’s, officials from PHE, PWD, ICDS, Malvinder Singh among other members.
Later Kavinder Gupta handed over one TVS Wego Scooty to a differently abled man namely Paranjit Singh in Digiana Camp area of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
The provision of such type of scooters to the physically challenged persons is covered through Social Welfare Department by State Rehabilitation Council.
While speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that there are many schemes of the Social Welfare Department for up-lifting of the weaker sections. He quoted the pension schemes, scholarship scheme, State marriage assistance program etc. He said that social workers from all the fields should come forward for helping such people of the society who are deprived of any type of amenity.
District Social Welfare Officer Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal, Baldev Blowria,Tirath Kour Corporator,Vinay Gupta, Paramjeet Singh, Harbans Choudhary, and several others were also present.
