Kavinder calls on PM, discusses J&K issues

JAMMU, May 15: Deputy Chief Minister,  and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today called on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at New Delhi and discussed several political and developmental issues pertaining to the State with him.
This was the first meeting after the induction of Gupta as Deputy Chief Minister in the recently held Cabinet reshuffle in the State.
During the meeting the several issues related to the boosting of industries, tourism, public transport, rural infrastructure, road connectivity and others were deliberated upon point by point.
Being the leader of BJP’s J&K Legislative Party, Gupta informed the Prime Minister that the bureaucrats have been directed to submit suggestions as sought by the Cabinet Sub Committee on implementation of Agenda of Alliance so that a timely report can be submitted to the Government for proper implementation of the same.
He informed that the meetings of various coordination committees; formed to advise the Government on any kind of issues pertaining to development, smooth governance and perfect coordination between PDP and BJP will be conducted periodically.
The Deputy Chief Minister has sought the personal intervention of the Prime Minister in extending the benefits of the Special Industrial Package to the State of J&K as the same got expired on  June 14,2017.
Gupta said, the industrial package provided to the State during the tenure of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2002 has turned out to be boon not only to the industrial sector but in addressing the problem of unemployment to a large extent.
He said that J&K having unique topography; varies from snow bound mountainous area to the plains have been successful in establishing thousands of industrial units and providing employment to the lakhs of people across the State with the help of this special package.
Taking forward the vision of BJP in empowering women and providing affordable “Housing for All”, a decision to waive off the stamp duty for woman and reducing it to 5% for others for purchasing land have been taken in the recently held Cabinet meeting of the State, he informed.
He urged the Prime Minister to direct the concerned departments for releasing the special industrial package and other packages meant for the development of the State so that the confidence put in by the people can be strengthened further.
Terming the meeting as positive, Gupta said that the Prime Minister assured full support of the Centre for the holistic development of the State.
