REASI, July 7: On the eve of Delimitation Commission’s visit to Jammu, all Councilors of Municipal Committee have demanded a separate Assembly constituency named after Mata Vaishno Devi.
In this regard, an all party delegation of the Katra MC Councilors today met the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Charandeep Singh and submitted their representation seeking a separate Assembly constituency named after Mata Vaishno Devi on the parameters of Charar-e-Sharief in Kashmir.
In the representation, these Councilors explained that the Reasi constituency is one of the largest Assembly constituencies of Jammu Kashmir due to which Katra Vaishno Devi is ignored in respect of development and other aspects.
“The development of holy town Katra at par with other holy cities is possible only if a separate Assembly segment is created by the Delimitation Commission,” reads the representation.
The delegation also gave the reference of Charar-e-Sharief Assembly segment and said that similar exercise should be done for creating of Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly segment.
