Kathua to be developed as ‘model’ district: Dr Jitendra

KATHUA, Mar 13: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Kathua will developed as a model district in next three years and will be an example for other districts to follow.
Addressing a public meeting at village Jasrota, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Kathua has many firsts to its credit which are yet to be followed by other districts. He said, the Keedhiyan-Gadyal bridge coming up near Lakhanpur and the recently inaugurated Basholi-Danera bridge will prove game changers and transform the entire scenario of tourism and employment, not only in Kathua, but also in the surrounding areas within J&K and neighbouring States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. He also referred to the recent decision of Lakhanpur-Basholi road and Dyalachakh-Udhampur road to be coopted as part of the National Highways.
Responding to the local demand for construction and  black-topping of the link-road to village Jasrota, Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has discussed the issue with the local MLA Rajiv Jasrotia and the delay on account of environment clearance will be overcome very soon.
Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the work on the North India’s first ever Biotech Park at Gati near here will start soon because the Union Ministry of Environment have issued exclusive guidelines for environment clearance and forest clearance to start the construction over there. The “Dreamland Park” in Kathua city is nearing completion and will be dedicated to public very soon, he added.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya at Kathua has been upgraded, said Dr Jitendra Singh, adding the proposal has been submitted to set up a Railway Station in the city vicinity of Kathua.
Dr Jitendra Singh further informed that the timeline for 100% rural electrification of district Kathua under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (DDJJY) has been fixed for March 2017 and the “Aarogya Gram Yojana” as well as “Sichai Yojana” have been initiated in district Kathua before any other district.
MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia, while speaking on the occasion, said that it is a great asset to have Dr Jitendra Singh as the MP because he is readily available to us for the followup of various proposals and projects in Delhi. He assured the local population that the proposal for construction of link road to village Jasrota will be cleared soon and appealed to the people to work unitedly and whole-heartedly for the upliftment of the region.
Jasrotia said that,as MLA, he will ensure that the fast pace of development started in Kathua district will move ahead without any obstruction.
