KATHUA, Jan 9 : Kathua and Samba police has rescued 12 and four bovine animals at two different places respectively during the special nakas laid for checking the bovine smuggling in the twin districts.
In its endeavours and commitment to contain the activities of bovine smuggling in Kathua district, a police team of Police Post (PP), Ramkot succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling bid in its jurisdictional area near checking point and rescued 12 bovine animals. Also, canter carrying bovines illegally was seized on the spot by the police.
Police said during the intervening night of January 8 and 9 around 0400hours, an information was received from reliable sources that a suspicious canter bearing registration number UP11BT/1547 was being driven by unknown driver and was moving towards Udhampur, negligently.
Acting Swifty, a police team of PP Ramkot laid a special naka and noticed aforementioned suspicious canter which was signalled to stop for checking and after seeing police party driver jumped from the vehicle and fled , consequently vehicle hit with water tank and automatically getting stopped. After thorough checking of the vechile 12 bovines were found loaded in it which were tied with ropes mercilessly and lately rescued. The vehicle was also seized on spot.
By taking this cognizance case FIR No. 05/2021 U/S 188/279/427 IPC, 11/PCA Act has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation has been set into motion, accordingly.
The district police Samba has also foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal by rescuing four bovines.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a surprise naka on link road near village Chhan Matloni and during checking, signalled to stop a Tata Mobile bearing registraton Number JK02AN-3012. But instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and tried to escape from naka party. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Dhiani, Samba. The driver however managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle four cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
