KATHUA, June 17: In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society, district police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt near Satkey Chack Naka Point, rescued nine bovines, arrested two persons in this connection and both the vehicles involved in the commission of crime were also seized on the spot.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kumar SHO Police Station (PS) Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar during naka checking duty at Satkey Chack intercepted one suspected vehicle bearing Registration Number HP73A-2477 which was driven by a person namely Hamid, son of Akbar of Pokka Tienla, district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. On checking five bovines were found loaded in the vehicle. Thereafter, another suspicious vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) bearing Registration Number JK08-9496 was intercepted by the police party which was driven by a person namely Munish Kumar, son of Manohar Lal of Govindsar, Kathua.
During checking four more bovines were rescued, thus by making a total of nine bovines which were rescued by police party on spot and both of the accused were arrested vehicles seized.
In this connection a case FIR No. 294/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Kathua and further investigation is underway.
