KATHUA, June 15: In continuation to take tough action and to check the illegal activities of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, RC Kotwal- today rescued more than two dozen bovines within the district, and arrested one person in this connection and seized two vehicles.
Police said last night a police team led by Inspector, Bopinder Singh, SHO Police Station (PS) Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO, Border, Sachit Mahajan while on patrolling duty near Bhamberwan, Rajbagh noticed one Mahindra vehicle without any Registration Number. On seeing police from a distance, the driver of the vehicle managed to fled away and left behind five bovines which were taken without a legal permission and were rescued on spot. Accordingly a case FIR No. 99/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation has been started.
While in another case police team led by Inspector, Sumeet Sharma SHO, PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh noticed one suspicious trailer bearing Registration Number PB46H-9987 being driven by unknown driver who along with his associate namely Gulab Din, son of Abbi R/o Handa Chack tehsil Marheen district Kathua was directed to stop for checking. During checking 20 more bovines were rescued which were stealthily hidden under the sacks of potatoes. Meanwhile all the bovines were rescued, one person arrested and trailer was seized.
A case FIR No. 76/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11PCA act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation is underway.
